When an event planner...

Aaaah first class, a dream for many. But affordable enough for, what 3, maybe 4 people? Gosh! Have you SEEN the cost of a first class ticket lately? I have a great friend that works for the airlines, these are her tips to get upgraded.

Understand how it works

Upgrades are available, or they're not. It depends on how full the flight is. So if you don't get upgraded, know you may not have had an option.
- If the flight is offering "upgrade for a discount" deals, there's room on the flight and your chances are pretty good!
The better the status you have with an airline, the better your chances. Not always, but usually the airline upgrades their credit card holders and frequent fliers first. So if you want better chances and you're searching for a new credit card anyways, an airline one might be your best bet!

Dress the part

An upgrade is at the discretion of the ticket agent that checks you in. If you look like you belong in business class, I'm looking at you sweat pants, stained sweatshirt and backwards hat, then your chances are better

Ticket agent

Speaking of the ticket agent, be nice, really really nice. Strike up a conversation, ask how their day is going. You'd be shocked how many rude people are at an airport, brighten their day, they just might brighten yours!

Check in early

Or get to the airport early. Before the upgrades have been given away. Also you wont be rushed and stressed. If you're relaxed, you come across more confident and more deserving of an upgrade.

Ask

Never hurts right? If they turn you down, just remember, there may have been no choice!

If you do get an upgrade

Be VERY thankful, they CHOSE you!
